Where are the April episodes? An update from the road.

You might be wondering what happened to the April episodes as well as the trailer for the feature we were coming out with. All very valid questions.

I’ve been away, both mentally and actually. I will be speaking more about this on an upcoming episode, but I thought it would be worthwhile to fill you all in on why we have not yet come out with Episode #4.

As we started pre-production for the fourth instalment of our show, a show which was going to explore the Alberta-BC pipeline fight and the hypocrisy of political pastors, two major events occurred which complicated life for me personally.

The first was my girlfriend taking a job on Vancouver Island. She had been looking for work for a few weeks in the Lower Mainland, but opted to go back to Nanaimo for a job. This produced a complication in that I had to help her pack, make sure she had somewhere to go, etc. It was also a bit of a mental shot only because we had just recently started building a life together in a home that was meant for the both of us. It’s ultimately a minor issue in the grand scheme, but one which required a lot of my attention.

The second, and the most devastating, occurred the day after I was told my girlfriend would be moving out. My grandfather, a man who has rarely ever been sick, was now diagnosed with lung cancer. The prognosis was grave, and as opposed to fighting it, my grandfather had decided to refuse treatment. It was a decision I understood from his point of view almost immediately — but nonetheless a decision that would shorten his life considerably.

I arrived in Montreal yesterday, and will be headed for the small Eastern Township community of St. Isidore de Clifton tomorrow, where my family resides. I have no illusions about this trip: it will be a trip that will require me to leave nothing unsaid to a man who has played a pivotal role in my life. This trip is undertaken to essentially, say goodbye.

It hasn’t quite hit me yet, and it probably will not until I see him tomorrow. For the moment, I’m trying to make the most out of this short stay in Montreal, doing a walking tour of the old city. I’ll be doing some recording in the days ahead, but new content will only be available once I get back to British Columbia later this month.

I’m cognizant of the notion that this project is still in its infancy, and I’m pleased that the listenership is growing. I do regret that I haven’t been able to bring you new episodes in recent weeks, but I will be back soon. Stay tuned.
